Slide right to see the before photo and left to see the after retouching, finished photo. The before photo was taken with automatic camera settings and there was no editing involved. The after photo is the combination of flash light and multiple natural light photographs.

For the above photo I used four different natural light exposures and one with artificial (flash) light to fill the dark shadows of the scene. I used the darkest exposure for the view outside the window and with the other three I enhanced the dynamic range of the room.

This one was a bit more complicated. I also used four natural light exposures but to make the scene come alive I used flash pops for every detail of the room. There is a different light for every chair, every wall, table etc. Then I removed the reflection from the light on the bar and because the four ceiling lights on the left were burned I had to light them in photoshop.

This is a small animation of the process.

For this photo I couldn’t use any flash so I had to use only shots with natural light. Another problem was the timing, it was in the middle of the day and the sun was very strong. This was a problem because there was so much light that the camera couldn’t record all the range form dark to light. So I took a shot only for the blue sky, everything else was black except from the sky, then one shot for the front of the building, one for the side and one for the dark spots underneath. After blending all the photos in one I added some clouds to make the photo a bit more interesting.
